Feature Survey

Your privacy in the survey.

What the survey keeps when you vote or suggest an idea, why, for how long, and how to delete it.

Who runs it

The feature survey is run by Vertexix. For anything about your data, write to privacy@example.com.

What is kept

Just reading the page keeps nothing and sets no tracking cookie. When you vote or suggest an idea, the survey keeps:

  • a random code in a cookie on your device (vx_survey) — the survey stores only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it;
  • your IP address, your browser's name and version (its “user agent”), its language settings and the time;
  • for an idea, also: what you wrote, the example links and email address if you gave them, the edition you said you use, and the page you came from.
  • for a comment on your vote, also: what you wrote and when.

Why

  • To count every vote once, and let you take yours back (the cookie, and your IP address so a vote cannot be repeated just by clearing cookies).
  • To keep out spam and abuse (IP address, browser, time).
  • To ask you about your idea, only if you gave an email address.
  • To see which editions want which features (the edition, if you said).

Who sees it

Your idea's text is shown on the survey page, without your name; so are comments on votes. Everything else — links, email, IP address, browser, edition — is seen only by the Vertexix team. It is not sold or shared.

How long

IP addresses, browser details and language settings are cleared automatically after 365 days. Ideas, votes, comments and email addresses are kept while the survey runs, or until you delete them. The cookie lasts 730 days from your last visit; a second, temporary cookie (vx_survey_s) holds the security check and messages and ends when you close your browser. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Seeing or deleting your data

Your data

That page shows everything kept for this browser, and deletes it with one button: your votes come off the counts (with any comments on them) and your ideas are removed. A comment alone can be changed or removed on the survey page, under the idea you voted for. If you used another device, or want a copy, a correction or anything else, write to privacy@example.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
