Save / Lock / Load Selection

·

Three actions, available once a mesh is loaded, acting on whichever mesh is currently on screen.

Save Selection & Load Selection

Writes or reads a plain .sel text file next to the loaded model, recording either the Loaded Mesh's binary polygon selection or the Generated Mesh's color-group assignments — the file remembers which mesh it came from, so it can't be loaded back onto the other mesh's unrelated face indices. Loading refuses with a status message if the polygon count or the source mesh doesn't match.

Regular and up Save and Load are edition-gated to Regular and Ultra; Free and Light don't get file-based selections.

Lock Selection

Not edition-gated — this is an in-memory bookmark, not a file. It records the current selection so a later mistake (a bad grow/shrink/loop or paint stroke) can be undone back to exactly this point with Ctrl+Z, independent of any single edit in between. There's only one bookmark slot: locking again overwrites the previous one. It also remembers which mesh it was taken on, so restoring onto the wrong mesh or after the mesh has changed shape is refused with an explanatory status message instead.
