Selection Tools

·

Selection Tools is a floating, movable palette — not a modal — so the viewport stays fully interactive while it's open. It covers Lasso Scope, the F1–F12 color-group swatches, Grow/Shrink/Loop Select, Select by Material, grouping/Pass Through, the Material Properties inspector, the UDIM Tile Manager, and Save/Lock/Load Selection.

Which mesh it acts on

Most of this window — color swatches, Grow/Shrink/Loop, Save/Lock/Load — only ever acts on the created topology. Select by Material is the one exception: it's equally meaningful on the Loaded Mesh before any topology exists, since picking which materials to retopologize is the very first step of either remesh workflow.

Opening it

Click its icon in the icon toolbar, or it opens itself automatically: when you pick a remesh workflow in the sidebar (choosing materials is the first thing you do next), when Create New Topology runs (so the window you need to watch is already up), and whenever an ambiguous action needs a material chosen and none is selected yet.
