Select by Material

·

A plain toggle list of every material on the Loaded Mesh, shown once it has at least one. Clicking a row live-replaces the actual polygon selection immediately — there's no separate Select button — and multiple rows can be toggled on at once. This also filters the UV View (View: Images) down to just the toggled materials' own wireframe and texture pixels.

A material with zero assigned polygons never appears — most imports carry at least one unused default material, so this keeps the list honest. A material already belonging to a group is hidden here too, reachable only through its group row (see Merge Selection) unless that group is currently mid-edit.

Click semantics

  • Plain click — replaces the selection with just this material. Clicking the sole selected row clears the selection entirely.
  • Ctrl+click — adds or removes this row, keeping the rest.
  • Shift+click — extends the range from your last click to this row, in on-screen order.

Per-row actions

Each row also shows an eyeball (visual show/hide only — a hidden material stays selectable and paintable) and a trashcan, which permanently deletes the material and its polygons from the loaded mesh and asks for confirmation first. If a created topology already exists, deleting a loaded-mesh material clears it too, since it was built from that material's geometry.
