Loaded Mesh vs. Generated Mesh Mode

·

A dropdown mirrors the sidebar's own "View: Loaded Mesh" / "View: Generated Mesh" toggle and the backtick shortcut — switching either one switches both. It stays disabled until a created topology exists.

Switching the window's own dropdown to Generated Mesh mode reveals the read-only Materials and Groups lists.

What changes in Generated Mesh mode

The Select by Material toggle list is replaced by two read-only-leaning inspection lists:

  • Materials in Generated Mesh — every material currently present in the created topology gets its own row, even ones that belong to a group (unlike the Loaded Mesh list, group membership doesn't hide a material's row here, since deleting a material from the created topology also drops it from its group's definition). Click to select/highlight its polygons; the eyeball hides them in the viewport; the trashcan deletes them from the created topology only, leaving the loaded mesh's material intact for a future retopology or Pass Through.
  • Groups in Generated Mesh — shown only for groups that are fully represented (every member material present in the created topology). Click to select every member's polygons at once.
